Our Aims

  • To foster professionalism, ethical sensitivity, and skill among faculty, staff, trainees, and students
  • To provide an ethics consultative service, to improve health, health care, and health related research at our institution, within the state of New Mexico, the nation, and our global community
  • To create a community of scholars, and learners who are committed to advancing: scholarship, research, and service in the field of ethics
  • To contribute to the recognition and understanding of distinct ethical issues for special populations, and to value diversity in people and thinking
  • To build upon existing strengths and efforts to bring greater coherence to collaborative and interdisciplinary ethics scholarship, education, and service endeavors at our institution
  • To expand the policy development, advocacy and community outreach capacities of our faculty, staff, trainees, and students to encourage public dialogue on a broad range of ethical issues, including health care disparities
